He is a resident artist with the St, Joseph’s Historic Foundation/Hayti Heritage Center in Durham, NC where he has developed poetry and spoken word programming for youth and adults. Richard Melanson holds a Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University and taught international relations at UCLA, Kenyon, Brown, and the National War College. He has offered courses at OLLI at Duke since 2016.
